Got back yesterday, but I was too tired to write out anything lengthy. So, here’s how my trip went.

Day 1

Left at 10 AM. Arrived it Mackinaw City around 6:00 PM because mom wanted to take the scenic route to travel along the shore of Lake Michigan. *sigh* Most of the shoreline was covered by trees or houses. Scenic route was a bust, but we did find a cute little park near Petoskey, I think. It had a cute little waterfall, not sure if it was natural or man made, along with a creak. Took photos. Hopefully, they’ll turn out. Anyway, back to Mackinaw City. Stayed at a place called the Riviera Motel. We’ve stayed there before. It has a nice view of the island, lakeshore, and even a lighthouse. Never cared much for the beds. Not nice on my back and the pillows were way too soft and didn’t offer much neck support. Ate out at a place called Audie’s. Nice waitress, good food and portions. Pepsi only products. (Most places in Mackinaw City only offer Pepsi products. Wonder why.) Then, we took a walk around the city and got some ice cream. I had Mackinaw Island Fudge flavor. Nice and creamy. Returned to motel room and tried to get some sleep.

Day 2

Up at 8:00 AM. I tossed and turned most of the night. Packed up and left around 9:20 AM. Crossed over the Mackinaw Bridge. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but I still got dizzy when looking over the edge. That’s a long drop. Toll was $3.00. On the way to Shipwreck Museum, we decided to stop and see Tahq Falls. Admission day pass : $6.00. We headed to the Lower Falls area. It was beautiful. I took several pictures. We were going to head up to see the Upper Falls, but it was a 4 mile hike, and the ground was all muddy. I would also like to mention that the bugs in the park were aggressive bastards. My mom and I got bit up pretty bad by, not mosquitoes, but flies. Yuck.

Continued on until we reached the Shipwreck Museum around 12:30 PM. Admission was $12, and your ticket is a stamp on the hand. With the stamp, you could explore the museum, watch the 14 minute video on the Edmund Fitzgerald, look inside the lighthouse keeper’s quarters, the assistant’s quarters, and a few other buildings. The museum had some nice artifacts, but not nearly as much as I had hoped for. Not really worth the $12 admission, in my opinion anyway. Also, the place was swarming with flies. There were flypaper stands all around the buildings. Real nice. Although, I did get a nice laugh from watching several German Shepherd’s sitting down and snapping down a few of the flying bastards. Dogs seem to be allowed on the grounds, but not in the buildings. The shoreline near the lighthouse was pretty, and we managed to see a few passing freighters. Left after 2:00 PM and stopped for lunch in the town of Paradise (Yes, it’s actually called that. There’s even a place called Hell somewhere in Michigan) at a placed called the Berry Patch. Had the chickenwrap with chips and, yet again, a pepsi. Tasted good, and I held it down for about an hour on the way to St. Ignace until I told my mom to pull over so I could puke on the side of the highway. Happened two more times. Thank God there were no passing cars to add to my humiliation. Thanks for the food poisoning Berry Patch. Once my stomach was fully purged, I felt better.

Arrived at St. Ignace around 5:50 PM, and we stayed a Best Western Hotel near the lakeshore. Nice room and comfortable bed. Feeling hungry, I decided to test my luck and headed over to a place called Driftwood Restaurant. Had a cheeseburger with fries and, oh my gosh, an actual Coke. Finally. Pretty good food, and I didn’t get sick. Returned to hotel and went to bed.

Day 3

Again, spent most of the night tossing and turning. Only got a few hours of sleep. Left around 8: 40 because I wanted to get the hell out of there. I was tired, crabby, and sore. This trip reminded me that I’m not a traveling person. I was so glad when we got back home to my own, comfortable bed.

So, that was my trip. There were fun times, and there were bad times. What’s even more amazing was that my mom and I didn’t have one fight.

Today I'm heading off to the U.P. for 2-3 days. The main focus of this trip is the shipwreck museum near Whitefish Point. I've always been fascinated with shipwrecks. Hopefully, it'll be worth it, since they're charging $12 to get in. I don't know yet if I'll be going to Mackinaw Island. Depends on time and weather. I may want to explore more of the U.P. It's my first time up there. I'm not looking forward to crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, whichs combines two of my biggest fears: drowning and heights. *shudder* :(

I'll miss everyone here. I'm also going to miss all the delicious yaoi action.
